She’s finally mine! Meet my beautiful, shiny, light and speedy Diana!

After months of researching, designing and saving I finally have a bike that makes getting around in San Francisco fun, easy and amazing.

I designed her but I owe the creation of this lovely two wheeler to Wesley at American Cyclery. I went to a few bike shops and talked to a lot of people here in the city before I found someone that would listen to what I actually wanted and not try to force feed me an unattractive road bike. She’s custom and just what I had in mind. Thanks so much Wesley!!

With the purchase of Diana has come a desire to boost my bike knowledge, safety and a general desire to make commuting by bike easier. I’ve been spending a whole lot of time on the internet immersing myself in all things two wheels and making plans. A few of my favorite bike related sites?

San Francisco Bike Coalition – Promoting the bicycle for everyday transportation.

Open Bicycle – Stockist and service of fine new and vintage bicycles, parts and accoutrements in Sommerville, MA.

Box Dog Blog – Blog of Mission bike shop Box Dog Bikes.

Knotty Sisters – Unique handmade and stylish clothes made of jersey. I quickly learned after ripping one of my favorite dresses while swinging my leg up on my bike that stretchy materials are the way to go. Who knew jersey could be so good looking?

Soma Fabrications – A few things on my bike came from Soma, the most obvious being the frame and handlebars, and I must say I am very happy with them.

With the change in my outlook towards biking you would think I haven’t been riding some sort of bike here in the city for almost 3 years. I guess new bikes can do that to you.

So, with the summer months drawing ever so closer, do you plan on getting out there and riding a bike? I so recommend it!
